Introductory post

After working for 7 years in the %&*^ industry, I somehow feel that, I have become a cry baby. I end up cribbing at, well almost everything, at work, at home, while travelling.

I keep on telling people as to how we are different from other countries. So I got a thought of putting all my learnings during the last 7 years, in a series of posts.

Dont you worry, these series of posts will have nothing to do with technology or coding. I will try to concentrate purely on the business side of the IT industry, only from my perspective.

I have loads of topic to write about, starting from timesheet approval, what kind of value add we do in the IT industry to the nature of work what we do in the industry etc etc.

Atleast there will be this so called place where I can record my thoughts.

Let me add a disclaimer as well.

Disclaimer to the series of posts which are to follow.

These series of posts regarding the IT industry has got nothing to do with any individual or any organization. Any co-incidences are fictional and deeply regretted. All the views expressed through these series of posts are solely mine and carry no guarantee on whether the information is correct or not.

I would be more than happy if the reader assumes these posts as fictional.

Cheers

  1. Just random thoughts here,
I am in the same boat! After 8 yrs in IT,I too had become the cry baby, whining about very thing at work, home and with friends.
But, then, I have seen, it not just particular to IT but across industries like insurance, construction, etc.
Basically, I derive at conclusion, that how service industry work in India.
Talking with my friends in construction, IT is somewhat better, at least, you are in hygienic environment, like AC, Canteen, good toilets, etc, compare to them on site in Sun, missing all hygiene factor.
There too, work is done of 7 days with long working hours, with lots of management obstacles in there path.
Life teaches you hard lesson, many things we observe are what we perceived, and are far from reality. And after all, its the same bullshit industry who is keeping million engineers lighting up their home! Think scenario prior to 1991 in India, when service industry didn't exist!

  2. Part 1 -

@Shabbir, firstly thanks for reading and commenting.. I totally agree with you.. IT is something which has given jobs to loads of people in the last couple of decades.. I bow in respect to the people who have set up shops... No second thoughts on that...

I also agree with you when it comes to the construction industry. where things might be not as good as ours..

  3. when you take into account European cars, they bring in so much of quality. its unaffordable for someone like me. But why can;t Europen car manufacturers's be complacent. Why are they trying to push the limits when it comes to technology innovation. They can simply eat money out of patents/royalty.. or simply out of the fact that, we are making cars, better than few nations who cannot even manufacture a car. Why do they chase dreams which require people to have sleepless nights, forget family and work like mad..??? why

  4. Part 3//

here in India, why are we so complacent that, we know by doing some low end jobs we get to earn livelihood rather than innovating.. why all the senior pro's in the organization are at the management level ? why dont we innovate technically instead of --- whtever.. tell me which product genuinely ships out of India ? (all technology inclusive)..

  5. part 4- why do managers try to save their job by doing all kinds of dirty politics.. introducing all kinds of roadblocks.. just to show off they are adding value,, (non technically though)

well do read on i do have lots to write about...
