While cruising through life, you meet up strangers, some of them you get to know better, some of them you tend to keep in contact, some of them become your close friends, some of them whom you end up respecting a lot, etc etc.
This post is dedicated to one such different encounter. This event dates back to somewhere in the early months of 2010, may be April or May 2010.
While working in this company in ITPL, I had a small gang of friends. It was one such special 4 member gang. It was the first and probably the last one as well, and ideally the best. Because we were 4 guys, all of whom were from Bangalore and all of them born in the year 1983. We had bonded together well.
Now, let me tell you about this encounter. It was a hot day in Bangalore. I had just finished my lunch and was feeling very thirsty. So thought of having something to drink. We were as such not interested in having any fruit juices nor any other colas which were available within ITPL. so thought of going out and having tender coconut water.
So we located a lady selling tender coconut water exactly opposite to ITPL. So this friend of mine, with whom I usually used to have lunch went to that lady and said..
" Yeradu yelneeru kodakka " .
I was surprised. I did not expect this from him.
Well the above line in quotes is in Kannada and it translates into English as
" Give me two tender coconuts sister ".
Now are you too surprised ? Did you expect such a thing coming if you were in my place.
How would you approach that lady ? Tell me tell me. Would you straight away go and call her sister ?
After this particular incident, the respect I had for my friend just got doubled. The reason why I got surprised it because, its very difficult to find such people. His respect for dignity of labor was eminent. Given a chance I too would go that way. Why not.
Cheers,
