Lessons learnt from " JAB WE MET "

Honestly speaking, JAB WE MET is one of the awesome movies I have watched in recent times. The story was spot on, the location was spot on , everything about the movie was just too good.

I watched in two parts. The first part was when it was shown on a popular television channel. I was watching the movie, when my cousin turned up, to invite my family to his house warming ceremony. I had already fallen in love with the movie, but this time could not help. I had to switch off the Television, but I dont regret it.

Then the coming week, I went to Dharwad to my cousin's marriage. Now too I could not watch the second part, the thought of which was really haunting me. Finally one fine weekend, I managed to watch the second part of the movie, and mark my words, it was worth the wait.

I ve learnt some lessons from the movie. Last time, I had put up a post about lessons learnt from Dil Chahta Hai. But it was an extract instead. But this time, its my learning curve. So here it goes. (Not many though)

1. Do things which make you happy and the things which you love the most.

Recollect, Aditya (Shahid) was fond of music, but finding no time due to his schedule. But after he met Geet(Kareena) , he re-realised his interest in music. btw what an awesome song, sung by....... I assume its by the Lead Singer of Silk Route. Correct me if I am wrong.

2. Balance personal as well as professional life.

I think its very mandatory to strike a chord between the two. Else you will forget to enjoy life while you chase your dreams and aspirations or you will forget your professional aspirations.

Recollect how Shahid performs @ his peak, after he returns from Manali.

3. To speak your heart out, listen to others' worries , speak about your worries.

Recollect, how Shahid feels when he flushes out the pic of his ex-girlfriend who married someone else. Well its really important to speak out to someone, tell your concerns, and at the same time listen to others worries as well.

4. To take a break, from work and travel.

After I watched the movie, I just felt the importance of taking a break from work. You can travel or do something creative.

5. To completely own your decisions.

This is one of the most awesome things which I came across watching the movie.

Recollect what Kareena tells when they are planning to make an elope from her house. To take decisions that your heart tells, and to own them completely and later, not to blame anyone for the decision.

Well, I want to re-iterate about #1.

1. Do things which make you happy and the things which you love the most.

The thing which I love to do the most, is to crack Jokes. The jokes which I utter is completely spontaneous and has nothing to do with any sorts of preparation. Above all, I do it most, when I meet cousins. But the saddest part is my brother absolutely hates it. He once said " Do you even remember that you are a Software Engineer, and work _ _ _ _ _ ". Well dont know what to make out of it. One thing's for sure, There's no stopping me when it comes to jokes, esp POOR JOKES !!!

Funny post, no meaning though, but after all its MY BLOG baby !!!!.

Well for the first 15 years of my life, I resided at Malleshwaram. Then on I moved to Bangalore South.

My cousin resided for many years at Jayanagar 9th Block . Now he has moved to Nelamangala since .

This time around, when I visited my cousin's place (on the occasion of house warming ceremony of his new house), I decided to have a casual chat about how he travels to his work place and how I travel to my workplace. The thing which came to light was quite surprising.

He started telling me about my house which I resided in Malleshwaram and I started telling about the house in which he resided in Jayanagar.

Guess what, incidentally he travels to his workplace everyday passing by my house @ Malleshwaram and I travel to my workplace everyday, passing his house @ Jayanagar 9th block.

Aint that supercoooool !!!!!

A DECADE LONG WAIT !!! What it is???

Well, wondering what it is ?? Yes its almost a decade, since I last visited the Vijaya Vittala temple @ Tumkur Road, close to Nelamangala. It was in 1997, I had been there. I just loved the place. The Gitopadesham, Vishnu Avataara, everything was just spot on. Mythology at its very best.

Since then I have traveled along Tumkur Road, a lot many times, but never found the opportunity to visit the temple. Now in 2008, I revisited the temple, just to find out, nothings' changed in the past 10 years.

I had been to my cousin's place @ Nelamangala. Incidentally it was the house warming ceremony of his new house. On my way back home, I headed to the Vijaya Vittala temple. The first thing I uttered in front of the Lord was " Thanks god for keeping me alive and kicking for 10 years. " . It just came automatically. So finally the decade long wait is over. I wish I visit the temple more frequently.

Inspired to take Photos !!!!!

Through this post, I want to tell the name of the person who, inspired me the most to buy a digital cam and take photos. The truth is out, its none other than " Otto Frank ". Father of Anne Frank. (Recollect -> from the Diary of Anne Frank)

After reading the book " The Diary of a Young Girl " by Anne Frank, I became more and more inquisitive, to know about the Frank family. I started searching on the internet about who betrayed the Frank family, how were the members of the Annexe were arrested, where they were sent to after arrest.

It is through here that, I came to know that, Otto Frank, Anne's father, was very much interested in photography. I learnt that in the 1940's itself he had a good quality camera and took lots of snaps, which told the world lots of stories. Hence I thought, lemme give it a try and to be honest, it just worked wonders. Not only did I take 130+ pics, but it made the event even more memorable, an event close to my heart.

I love the 80's

Hey there!!! I was back to Bangalore on Sunday, 3 Feb 2008 from Dharwad. Since I was jobless on a weekend, I decided to watch VH1.

VH1 has a programme every weekend called " Big Weekend". Every week there are different themes and different songs are telecasted based on the theme. The theme for this weekend was " I love the 80's ". I just loved it. Loads of good songs.

Though lots of awesome songs were being played, I thought I was seriously missing something. I was wondering, 1980's is absolutely incomplete without mentioning the name of " MARK KNOPFLER " and the " DIRE STRAITS ". Guess what happened the next moment???

The song queued up was "Romeo and Juliet" by Dire Straits/ Mark Knopfler. Boy O Boy. What an awesome song. What an awesome band. I totally relished this weekend's theme.

I am Back !!!!

Hey there !!! I am back doing what I love doing the most, blog, blog and blog.

I am back after attending, my cousin brother's marriage @ Dharwad. I have had loads of great moments over there. Lots of new friends, lots of relatives and above all an awesome place to be ie Dharwad.

I have taken close to 130 pics from my new digicam. All in all, a treasured moment.

There s some sad twist to the tale too -> The day I left Bangalore to Dharwad, a robber had entered our house compound. Thanks to the people who do a night beat, the robber was caught and handed over to the police. This was a very close call, but somehow thanks to God, no major robbery has happened.

I have visited lots of places, met lots of people above all cracked lots and lots of jokes and had a great time. I wish I could put this robbery incident to the side and cherish the celebration alone.

God, please ensure our house is safe from robbers, is all what I can pray for.

I will post more on my places of visit.

He- Man And The Masters of the Universe ;;; My source of inspiration

He-Man, is the cartoon which has been till date the most influential cartoon for me. Not only did I enjoy watching this cartoon, but also me and my friends were crazy about He-Man toys. We played with it a lot. One of my friend had toys of all the characters appearing in He-Man. This was before GI-Joe.

Well, this cartoon definitely sparked a fire in me, a fire which burns till date and will keep on burning. It inspired me to workout. My love for workouts came from no where else but from He-Man.

I frankly accept, I do not have a muscular sculpted body, I do have a few extra pounds, which is quite visible on my blog photo. But I never get bored of workouts, nor do I get upset, that I do not have a sculpted body even though I had worked out for quite some time. I have got all my inspiration from this cartoon.

Thought I watched this cartoon in 1987-88, as a 4 year old, it was almost 2002, till I first went to the gym. But I don't regret it. Nor my interest had lessened. I just pray to god to give me more quality time to work out.

Regarding a sculpted body, well, its just a matter of time.

I also attribute my interest in workouts to Lord Hanuman, whom I am devotee of. Thank you God.

He-Man, till date the most influential cartoon for me, I enjoyed this cartoon very much, as a kid when it came out in the late 1980's. I owe my fondness to the GYM to none other than Prince Adam aka He-Man.

What Am I Reading ?? Part II

I am almost done reading the book " The Diary of a Young Girl" by Anne Frank, and to be honest, I have thoroughly enjoyed it. I had a great time, knowing more about the Frank family.

When I put up a post on the Diary of a Young Girl, titled Part I , somebody told me " Thanks for the KT ". Sounds really absurd, what should I make out of this?? I don't know, frankly speaking, who cares ???.

Since I was busy with some personal work, I could not read the book in a single stretch. It took me almost 3 weeks to finish it. But at the end I can only say, " I am moved ". Its so beautiful, I have no words to describe it. Be it the Frank family or the helpers or the cats or the writing, they are all legendary. It all happened half a century ago, but when you read the book, it does not give you that impression.

What have I learnt ???
-> To be POSITIVE.

The writing of Anne Frank is filled with so much of optimism. Being in hiding, for over two years , with little food, lots of worries [lots of planes flying above you and lots of bombarding, arrests , gas chambers, deadly marches], you can be totally unsure of what is coming up next.

The writing is so wonderful that, not on many occasions, has Anne Frank deviated from being positive.

I have read so many books which have taught me to be positive, but this one is from someone whose been there, done it all and its unbeatable. Hats off.

Even when Anne Frank was hiding , she was reading and reading. It was something which I loved the most. Not to be out of touch when it comes to books. I think it has just inspired me to go an extra mile. Be it technical or non technical, I am prepared to read and read !!!!

I hope I can come up with a Part III on this. [Some pictures, some more on my learning curve]

An Ode to my Teachers @ SJBIT.

Yesterday I had bunked office and was at home all day. At 7pm in the evening, I was listening to the music and all of a sudden I had one thought.

If I had the power to reverse or undo one thing, what would it be?
I started thinking and thinking. But the only thing that came to my mind was my dismal performance in CET. So I wished if I could undo that, and obtain a better CET ranking, and join a college other than SJBIT.

I finally had to settle with only a better performance in CET would be something which could be undone. But regarding a college other than SJBIT, a definite NO. I am firm on this one. I have had a glorious 4 years stay at SJBIT. I have made the most out of it, infact had a great time as a student over there. Hence I came up with a post thanking all my teachers @ SJBIT.

If it was not SJBIT, I would never have been the same person. I would never have met so many wonderful people @ college and above all, I could have been in a different organization altogether, probably doing something which I would not have loved.

At this moment I can say is I am totally in love with my job and over a period of 2 years 4 months, I have met the most wonderful and disciplined professionals in the IT Industry and it was possible all because of SJBIT.

I would like to thank Mr.RaviKumar , Mr.HanumanthR and Mr.Sampath, gurus of mine. Not only they taught the engineering subjects, but also helped me turn the focus light inwards.

Thank you SJBIT !!!!!

This is the text of the Commencement address by Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple Computer and of Pixar Animation Studios, delivered on June 12, 2005.

I am honored to be with you today at your commencement from one of the finest universities in the world. I never graduated from college. Truth be told, this is the closest I've ever gotten to a college graduation. Today I want to tell you three stories from my life. That's it. No big deal. Just three stories.

The first story is about connecting the dots.

I dropped out of Reed College after the first 6 months, but then stayed around as a drop-in for another 18 months or so before I really quit. So why did I drop out?

It started before I was born. My biological mother was a young, unwed college graduate student, and she decided to put me up for adoption. She felt very strongly that I should be adopted by college graduates, so everything was all set for me to be adopted at birth by a lawyer and his wife. Except that when I popped out they decided at the last minute that they really wanted a girl. So my parents, who were on a waiting list, got a call in the middle of the night asking: "We have an unexpected baby boy; do you want him?" They said: "Of course." My biological mother later found out that my mother had never graduated from college and that my father had never graduated from high school. She refused to sign the final adoption papers. She only relented a few months later when my parents promised that I would someday go to college.

And 17 years later I did go to college. But I naively chose a college that was almost as expensive as Stanford, and all of my working-class parents' savings were being spent on my college tuition. After six months, I couldn't see the value in it. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life and no idea how college was going to help me figure it out. And here I was spending all of the money my parents had saved their entire life. So I decided to drop out and trust that it would all work out OK. It was pretty scary at the time, but looking back it was one of the best decisions I ever made. The minute I dropped out I could stop taking the required classes that didn't interest me, and begin dropping in on the ones that looked interesting.

It wasn't all romantic. I didn't have a dorm room, so I slept on the floor in friends' rooms, I returned coke bottles for the 5¢ deposits to buy food with, and I would walk the 7 miles across town every Sunday night to get one good meal a week at the Hare Krishna temple. I loved it. And much of what I stumbled into by following my curiosity and intuition turned out to be priceless later on. Let me give you one example:

Reed College at that time offered perhaps the best calligraphy instruction in the country. Throughout the campus every poster, every label on every drawer, was beautifully hand calligraphed. Because I had dropped out and didn't have to take the normal classes, I decided to take a calligraphy class to learn how to do this. I learned about serif and san serif typefaces, about varying the amount of space between different letter combinations, about what makes great typography great. It was beautiful, historical, artistically subtle in a way that science can't capture, and I found it fascinating.

None of this had even a hope of any practical application in my life. But ten years later, when we were designing the first Macintosh computer, it all came back to me. And we designed it all into the Mac. It was the first computer with beautiful typography. If I had never dropped in on that single course in college, the Mac would have never had multiple typefaces or proportionally spaced fonts. And since Windows just copied the Mac, its likely that no personal computer would have them. If I had never dropped out, I would have never dropped in on this calligraphy class, and personal computers might not have the wonderful typography that they do. Of course it was impossible to connect the dots looking forward when I was in college. But it was very, very clear looking backwards ten years later.

Again, you can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.

My second story is about love and loss.

I was lucky — I found what I loved to do early in life. Woz and I started Apple in my parents garage when I was 20. We worked hard, and in 10 years Apple had grown from just the two of us in a garage into a $2 billion company with over 4000 employees. We had just released our finest creation — the Macintosh — a year earlier, and I had just turned 30. And then I got fired. How can you get fired from a company you started? Well, as Apple grew we hired someone who I thought was very talented to run the company with me, and for the first year or so things went well. But then our visions of the future began to diverge and eventually we had a falling out. When we did, our Board of Directors sided with him. So at 30 I was out. And very publicly out. What had been the focus of my entire adult life was gone, and it was devastating.

I really didn't know what to do for a few months. I felt that I had let the previous generation of entrepreneurs down - that I had dropped the baton as it was being passed to me. I met with David Packard and Bob Noyce and tried to apologize for screwing up so badly. I was a very public failure, and I even thought about running away from the valley. But something slowly began to dawn on me — I still loved what I did. The turn of events at Apple had not changed that one bit. I had been rejected, but I was still in love. And so I decided to start over.

I didn't see it then, but it turned out that getting fired from Apple was the best thing that could have ever happened to me. The heaviness of being successful was replaced by the lightness of being a beginner again, less sure about everything. It freed me to enter one of the most creative periods of my life.

During the next five years, I started a company named NeXT, another company named Pixar, and fell in love with an amazing woman who would become my wife. Pixar went on to create the worlds first computer animated feature film, Toy Story, and is now the most successful animation studio in the world. In a remarkable turn of events, Apple bought NeXT, I returned to Apple, and the technology we developed at NeXT is at the heart of Apple's current renaissance. And Laurene and I have a wonderful family together.

I'm pretty sure none of this would have happened if I hadn't been fired from Apple. It was awful tasting medicine, but I guess the patient needed it. Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don't lose faith. I'm convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did. You've got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don't settle.

My third story is about death.

When I was 17, I read a quote that went something like: "If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you'll most certainly be right." It made an impression on me, and since then, for the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: "If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?" And whenever the answer has been "No" for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.

Remembering that I'll be dead soon is the most important tool I've ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life. Because almost everything — all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure - these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.

About a year ago I was diagnosed with cancer. I had a scan at 7:30 in the morning, and it clearly showed a tumor on my pancreas. I didn't even know what a pancreas was. The doctors told me this was almost certainly a type of cancer that is incurable, and that I should expect to live no longer than three to six months. My doctor advised me to go home and get my affairs in order, which is doctor's code for prepare to die. It means to try to tell your kids everything you thought you'd have the next 10 years to tell them in just a few months. It means to make sure everything is buttoned up so that it will be as easy as possible for your family. It means to say your goodbyes.

I lived with that diagnosis all day. Later that evening I had a biopsy, where they stuck an endoscope down my throat, through my stomach and into my intestines, put a needle into my pancreas and got a few cells from the tumor. I was sedated, but my wife, who was there, told me that when they viewed the cells under a microscope the doctors started crying because it turned out to be a very rare form of pancreatic cancer that is curable with surgery. I had the surgery and I'm fine now.

This was the closest I've been to facing death, and I hope its the closest I get for a few more decades. Having lived through it, I can now say this to you with a bit more certainty than when death was a useful but purely intellectual concept:

No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don't want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life's change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true.

Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

When I was young, there was an amazing publication called The Whole Earth Catalog, which was one of the bibles of my generation. It was created by a fellow named Stewart Brand not far from here in Menlo Park, and he brought it to life with his poetic touch. This was in the late 1960's, before personal computers and desktop publishing, so it was all made with typewriters, scissors, and polaroid cameras. It was sort of like Google in paperback form, 35 years before Google came along: it was idealistic, and overflowing with neat tools and great notions.

Stewart and his team put out several issues of The Whole Earth Catalog, and then when it had run its course, they put out a final issue. It was the mid-1970s, and I was your age. On the back cover of their final issue was a photograph of an early morning country road, the kind you might find yourself hitchhiking on if you were so adventurous. Beneath it were the words: "Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish." It was their farewell message as they signed off. Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish. And I have always wished that for myself. And now, as you graduate to begin anew, I wish that for you.

What am I reading ??? - Part I

The Diary of a young girl - by Anne Frank, is the book which I am currently reading. I have just started reading it and completed about 15% of the book. I thought of writing a post after I have completely read it. But I could not resist writing about it. So here it is.

According to me, the book is a masterpiece, the narration of Anne Frank is so beautifully crafted, its not to be missed.

I remember having an excerpt from the Diary of Anne Frank, as a chapter, in English, not sure when, must be 6+ years ago. But at that time, I absolutely disliked the chapter. I was also wondering, how could I ever complete the entire book, if someone gave it to me. This was me as a teenager. (Errrrr ~~~~~)

Quite unusual is it? The book is written by a teenager herself, but disliked by a teenager like me. I dont have an answer as to why?? I disliked it. May be my english was very poor, or may be I was a mugpot. I have no clues.

(Being a mugpot has its own advantages, but I feel it has more disadvantages, especially when it comes to Literature, Here's a LIVE Example !!!!)

But once again a BIG THANKS TO STRAND BOOK STALL, they have given me another chance to read the entire book. This time I am not only having a great time reading it, but also enjoying it to the CORE, its absolutely beautiful, can't imagine how the time is flying by as I am reading. Its a classic in itself.

Happy new year guys!!!!

Thank you Strand !!!!

Its been almost 2.5 years since I graduated. I do love reading books. Since my childhood days I used to read quite a bit of books(Not a voracious reader though). I started out with Famous Five. As a member of "Friends Circulating Library" in Subramanyanagar, I used to read a lot of Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew. But since I relocated to Bangalore South in 1999, it had been hard for me to find a library over here.

Also I was doing my engineering, so it was kind of hard for me to read anything non technical and I accept I was a bit lazy too.

But its since 2006, I am back reading some good titles, all thanks to Strand Book Stall and Strand Book Festival. Its among these wonderful books, I found a great companion.

Above all I also came across a book by Robin Sharma, which has tremendously inspired me. I have reclaimed some of my lost confidence, because of the writing of Robin Sharma. I wish there are more such Strand Book Festivals in the coming years, hopefully I get to read more.

Boy o Boy, its been 3 months, since I have not read anything so called " NON TECHNICAL ". I have always loved to read. Sometimes complacency creeps in, I tend to keep away from books. Here's a list of books which I have right now, wish to complete asap.

Surprise, Suprise, this December

Surprise, Surprise, is the mantra for me. Finally I am back doing something which I love the most !!!! Its something which I started in 2002, but for over an year, I was away from it.

Yes, yes, its right. I am back to this place, a place which keeps me interested much more than technology. Its true, I made a comeback at the gym this December.. I have started working out.
I go to the gym every morning from 5am to 6:15 am. And no doubts, I love it.

I pray to God to give me more strength to carry on gymming for a loooong time. I wish, I never ever drop out of gym in the future. Pls God Pls gimme tremendous strength, courage and above all quality time to work out.

One of my all time favorite songs. This song is about people who had the opportunity to achieve something great, but could not. So I wish to inspire myself, to constantly nurture my dream and chase it till the end !!!

The song is an absolute beauty, a masterpiece in itself.



I'm going home

Here comes Monday, the day of reckoning, Nov 11 , 2007. After nearly 11 months at a different workplace, I finally head home, the only thing i can recall is Daughtry singing Home.

Moving to a new workplace, has lots of advantages for me, it reduces travelling time, hopefully a pickup and drop close to my house, and loads of time for myself, to study , workout, read great books etc etc. Yeah, I ve waited for this day, since eleven months. Finally its here, Yippy.

How Long ???

Ahhh !!! Finally made some time to write. I had decided not to post any entries till I move to SJPR. SJPR stands for my new workplace location. My 6th workplace in 2.5 years
But somehow felt like writing after listening to the new song by the Eagles - " How Long ". Such an awesome song.

There has been loads of progress on my side when it comes to technology, but on a personal side, i am quite upset. There has been lots of debate on my attitude, my so called ego, which has taken center stage, atleast with one of my friend.

Anyways, I always have a Robin Sharma book which keeps me going in all such situations. After reading Robin Sharma's book for the fourth time in a row, I ve finally managed to get hold of " FountainHead ". I wish I wrap it up soon, so that I could go ahead reading the autobiography of Steve Waugh,

Almost forgot blogger

Boy O Boy,, Not a post since a month, how rude?? .. Well frankly speaking no other option, August , September 2007, i am totally busy with work, no time to blog, and above all majority of sites being restricted at workplace.

Finally i am finding some rhythm, coming up with a post after looong time. These days I am enjoying my work like never before. Coding has never seemed so interesting.

Will hope to post more in the coming days, for now cheers.

A day to remember - Team outing, 27 July 2007

As I approach the weekend, I find myself amid one of those memorable events, which I would like to remember always. Its outing time for our team. Though I was not interested in the very beginning to be a part of it, but at the end I am eating my own words. Yes, I would have made a big big mistake, if I had missed it.

We started at 7:45 am in the morning, from our office and headed to a resort 40 kms away from Bangalore. After an hour and half drive we reached the resort. The Mount View Resort is on the way to Nandi Hills. Though the resort was comparitively small than what I expected, it provided fun, entertainment, which was indeed unparallel.

We finished our breakfast and at around 9:45 am we headed straight to the cricket pitch. The cricket ground was a small one, where the best of the best bastmen found it difficult to score runs, courtesy the rules which were laid down. I was a part of the team which got eliminated in the very first match.

Thought I dint play much , I did find much interest in something else other than playing cricket. It was commentatiing. Through commentary I was able to crack some of the wild jokes. I assume both the players and the spectators had an awesome time, watching cricket and can I say listening to my commentary? well you have to comment on it.

After cricket it was lunch time. After lunch we proceeded to have a Shuttle Badminton tournament for the ladies. We ended it by the prize distribution ceremony. We left the resort at around 4:45 pm. It was a fun filled day, loads of things did happen. I wish to upload some of the snaps, sometime from now.

Its over and out from my side. I sure will post something this weekend.

Day 2 - Sadashivgad, Gokarna, Murudeshwara

On May 20th, we proceeded towards Sadashivgad which is at little distance from Karwar. It was famous for its fort. One more attraction is the bridge which is over the river Kali. One more prominent thing to notice is this road which leads to Panaji. The road passes through a cliff. In other words the cliff has been split to make way for this road. Its just an awesome sight. The Sadashivgad fort is located on this very cliff. As you stand on the fort you get an awesome sight of the river.

From here we moved on to Gokarna. Its famous for the AtmaLinga in the ancient temple. We did offer a puja at the ancient temple. It was indeed a holy place. No doubts about it. It was the first time that I was here. I wish I get more chances to be there. Gokarna beach is also quite prominent. But here there were high tidal waves. Hence it was a short period before we headed on towards Murudeshwara

Murudeshwara is one of the famous tourist places of Karnataka. Its famous for the idol of Lord Shiva which indeed is breathtaking. After visiting the temple we headed towards the beach once again. It was the third beach in 2 days. We spent totally 4 hrs at the beach. It was 8pm in the evening before we retired back to the hotel.

Next morning we headed towards Kudremukh, Agumbe, Sringeri, Hornadu, Kalasa.

Day 1 - Jog Falls , Sirsi, Yaana , Karwar

We hit the roads on a rainy thursday evening, on a tempo traveller. Its indeed fun to have the company of rain especially while on a highway. We drove through Tumkur, Beerur, Arasikere and we reached Jog Falls early in the morning @ 6:30 am. Though there wasn't much an attraction at Jog falls, due to scanty rainfall during 2006, we did have a good time capturing snaps.

Then we moved on to Sirsi, which is about approximate 3 hrs drive from Jog Falls. Sirsi is famous for Marikamba temple. The temple indeed was an awesome place of visit. I wonder i never had been to that temple all these years. After offering a small prayer at the temple, we had lunch at a hotel in Sirsi. We then proceeded towards Yaana.

Yaana is a place famous for its cliffs. There are about 17 cliffs in total, that is what I heard. You could approach this place by two different routes. We probably took the wrong route and ended up walking 6 kms in total. But it was worth. Trekking is probably something which I enjoy the most on such an occasion. Walking all alone amidst huge tree cover , listening to the chirping of birds, huh, I call myself lucky to have done all these. After a lengthy trek we decided to move on. We headed to Karwar where we planned to halt for the day. The road which leads to Karwar is indeed an awesome one. You can see the Naval Base "Sea Bird" as you approach Karwar.

It was evening 5:45 when we reached Karwar. We decided to visit the Rabindranath Tagore beach. Yes it indeed was an awesome place. Standing on the beach, watching the lighthouse was indeed a special moment. For people from Bangalore, who are void of beaches, this sure was a moment to cherish. Before I could notice, it was already 8:45 pm, as we headed for dinner. It was at Karwar where we made a halt on the first day.

3 day trip to Karwar, Gokarna , Murudeshwar - May 19, 2006

Hey there !! I am back. I ve found what I have been looking for, yes its a TOPIC. I wish to present, as a post, what I did on the three days of May 19,20,21 , 2006. Its about a trip which I was part of, something which will always remain fresh in my memory lane. Yes, it was my first trip with some of my cousins, whom I was meeting after a loooong time.

Basically my cousins grew up in different parts of Karnataka. I did not have much an opportunity to interact with them during my childhood days.

It indeed was unique, because the trip was not 1,2 but 3 full days.

I wish to come up with 3 posts, covering briefly about my places of visit.

Updates from my side

Well, its weekend time again, time to blog. But this weekend I have just kind of run out of topics. No clues about what to write. I would rather provide updates from my side, it was kind of good weekend where in I got a much, well deserved hike in salary, phew. It does open a new gate of opportunities.

Other than that I was busy all through the week, as usual coding, debugging. Hence I could not make much progress on the book by Sir Mark Tully, Oops I almost forgot I have the biography of Rahul Dravid queued up next. Hope I find some quality time soon.

One more important update is that, I will be going out on a team outing coming Friday. "Hope" I have a good time. Its my first team outing since August 2005, and to be frank I am kind of not interested in it, at all. But, but, I am governed by certain rules and regulations which I have to follow, hence cant bunk on that particular day, well lets see what God has in store for me on that day. Sure I would keep you posted about that event.

To be humble or not

This post is my last post for this weekend. I never thought of writing this as I have already mentioned a Poll on my blog regarding humility. But a post on my friends blog has got me thinking and thinking. Also today I saw a program on NDTV where in I came across something which added to my dilemma. Hence I thought of coming up with this post.

My dilemma is , does being humble and being successful at the same time are contradictory. Does it mean if, I am inclined towards being humble indicate I am away from success. Or if I am successful, am I away from humility.

I did find an answer in my friends blog, saying striking a median does the trick.

Today, I was watching the TV show "Walk the Talk" where in Shekar Gupta, the Editor in chief of The Indian Express was chatting with Sir Mark Tully, former BBC correspondent and writer. Here it was that Sir Mark Tully recalled a quote by Dr Manmohan Singh. I am sorry to say I only heard the quote but not the relevance it made to his conversation. The quote goes like this

" If you follow the middle way you are bound to be hit from the left as well as from the right "

Once again I was in a dilemma, thinking that , if we try to strike a median between humility and success, the above quote indirectly says we are not achieving either of the two.

Well, indeed I am clueless, to be precise at this moment in time, I am aiming to be humble, rest, I will leave it to God, who the almighty decides what next.

Importance of Saturday July 15, 2007 - My Belief

I intended this particular post, to be in Kannada. But somehow I could not do it at this moment of time. I hope to come up with a Kannada version of this post ASAP.

I am here, on a Sunday Morning , writing about the importance of 15 July 2007. I am just back from a temple close to my house. I had been to the temple @ 7 am in the morning, in my " Traditional BRAHMIN attire (Panchey and Shalya) " to attend a "SHANI SHANTI HOMA" peformed at the Sri Shirdi Sai Temple near my house. My mom told me the pujari would help me do a Sankalpa.

I would like to give a brief intro on the "SHANI SHANTI HOMA". Its on this day 15 July 2007 that Saturn (Shani) would enter Leo(Simha). According to English zodiac signs I am a Scorpio. But according to Hindu mythology I am Karka Rashi/Cancer. According to my knowledge, Saturn(Shani) was travelling along Karka Rashi for over a period of 7 and a half years and was now on the 9th Graha and about to move to Leo(Simha).

I believe a lot in mythology and Hindu tradition and above all I believe in and also fear Lord Shani, the most. In other words I am scared of Lord Shani. Hence I had been to the temple to offer a "Sankalpa" , trying to thank him for everything he has taught me over the past 7.5 years.
This post is another attempt to thank Lord Shani .

I attribute everything I am today to Lord Shani. Over the period of last 7.5 years I have learnt many things. I have even transformed from a stubborn, tempered, proud school going kid to a mature individual. I cant say I am humble as of now, but I am trying every attempt to be humble, down to earth. Over this period I have learnt to accept Failure as the stepping stone to success , speak truth and much more.

I would like to recall a quote by the Father of our Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. It goes like this " The very insistence on truth has taught me to appreciate the beauty of compromise". I have indeed learnt to speak truth.

I end this post by thanking Lord Shani for what ever I am today. I was , am and will continue to fear Lord Shani all my life. But by performing a small Sankalpa today indeed, I did a small bit to impress the great Lord Shani.

To blog or not to blog

As I approach Saturday evening , there is one question which continues to make me think, over and over again. That question is whether to " blog or not to blog". Since past 3-4 months I am blogging.

Today my mother asked me, " what do you write in your blog". I said "Anything and everything". Hearing this my mom asked " Who has the patience to read all your posts?"
I was indeed clueless.

Today I had been to my friends place, I met Kranti Vikram and Nitin. We had a good chat about technology, salary and as usual our good old college days. They know that I blog and I recently had sent them a mail saying I had updated it. I was kind of very happy to know that they had read my posts. They were asking about my recent posts.Vikram asked where I had stolen the poem from ?. After this question can I assume my poem atleast was kind of good ?

Yes sure I can . Well, thank you guys so much. They were also kind of surprised to see many posts from my side and asked where did I gather so much of time to blog, read about technology, write code. I found a kind of answer to my question.

The answer is blogging has become one of my favorite past time activity. I do seek happiness through blogging. On knowing people have read your posts, carries me an extra mile.

I wish to remember every such day or occasion where I have seen something different , read something different or done something different . Hence I have named my blog " Chapters of My Life" . I post about my life .. What I do, my inspirations , past time, my kind of music.

Its good to get feedback. But I do recollect everyone does not have enough time to go through my lengthy posts. To all those people who read my posts, provide feedback I can say "load of thanks going out to you guys".

Meerkats

Its 14 July 2007, I am blogging on a saturday morning about my weekend activity. Suddenly I get an idea about one of the TV shows I was once watching. I dont remember which day this show was broadcasted. Thinking its either saturday or sunday I am coming up with this post.

The show is called " Meerkat Manor " on Animal Planet. It showcasts about this wonderful animal. When I was watching this show regularly , it was all about a family or meerkats , how they would live as a part of family, how they would hunt for their food, how they would breed, how they protect themselves and their babies from predators.

Somehow these days I dont find enough time to watch Television, Animal Planet is far away. May be I am myself avoiding watching TV trying to bring in self discipline. I dont know . Anways this post is about Meerkats



Meerkat is a small mammal and a member of mongoose family. It is found in the deserts of South Africa. A meerkat might weigh 725 grams on an average. The meerkat uses its tail to balance while standing upright. The meerkat has small black crescent-shaped ears that can close when digging to keep sand out.

At the end of each of a meerkat's "fingers" is a non-retractable, strong, 2 cm (0.8 inches) long, curved claw used for digging their underground burrows and digging for prey. Claws are also used with muscular hindlegs to help them climb the occasional tree. Meerkats are primarily insectivores , but also eat lizards, spiders, ants eggs and small mammals .They are partially immune to certain venoms, and eat (after removing the stinger)

Meerkats are burrowing animals, living in large underground networks with multiple entrances which they leave only during the day. They are very social, living in colonies of up to about 30. Animals in the same group regularly groom each other to strengthen social bonds.

Weekend Time - A Perfect Hobby / Weekend Activity

A weekend getaway is something which I have always wished. Since its still a distant dream, I look out for other options to de-stress me. The city traffic, work and the travelling distance has its toll on me. I sure am a dull boy at the end of the week. A perfect hobby is what I look to , inorder to pep me up, get me going on a monday.

Off late I have been blogging a lot. It sure helps me a lot. It was Aru who introduced blogging to me. I keep wondering why I did not do this few years ago. To be honest there s nothing like blogging. It indeed is a wonderful hobby.

I also listen to music during weekends. It does give a soothing effect. I do catch my favorite show on Radio Indigo 91.9 FM, every saturday morning @ 7 am. Its called " The Indigo Time Tunnel ".
I get to listen all the awesome chartbusters from the past. Elvis , Simply Red , The Police , Queen, Bruce Springsteen, Duran Duran , Air Supply, Bangles are some of the artists/bands whose tracks I adore a lot.

Apart from this, I also look to VH1 for some more awesome music. VH1 classic is one program which I would love to watch. All the awesome songs of the past are here. There is also the Vh1 Big Weekend which I think is a unique concept. Every weekend tracks are played on a theme. If I could recollect there was a theme called " Forever Young Weekend ". Songs of all the artists of who started their singing careers one or two decades ago and who were still were rocking were played. I could recollect U2, Bon Jovi , Madonna and many others were there. One more theme was " Concert weekend " . Here all the songs handpicked from live concerts were played. This sure is an awsome way to unwind.

I also visit my friends during the weekends. I have already mentioned more about this under the post " The Necessity for an evening walk ".

Lots of reading is what I also enjoy on weekends. My goal is to complete one book per week [Non technical though]. These days I am quite occupied with work , hence am bit slow, unable to achieve my target. I also enjoy reading technical stuff, mostly pertaining to Microsoft Technologies.

Last but not the least I enjoy programming. I love to code, design. All over the week I do code and debug . But a pinch of programming, debugging , designing on the weekend is always close to my heart.

So these are the activities which keep me occupied over the weekend. Apart from this I do watch television but its restricted.

Weekend Time - A Perfect Weekend Getaway

Weekends never been more dearer to me, as they are now, since I have turned a pro. A perfect weekend getaway is what I have always wished. I would love to work for 5 days, the sixth day I wish to go out of town, have a ride along the country side, then come back on sunday evening , full of energy , raring to go.

I have always felt a drive along Mysore Road would de-stress me. This is very much true. The last time I was travelling along Mysore Road was with my cousins on a trip to Kerala. It did de-stress me a lot.

Though this has been a distant dream, I hope it turns into reality soon. I have two friends, who I assume, have no objections in joining me on a weekend getaway. Its Kranti and Nitin.

I even had a plan to go for a Jeep [I would not like to mention the MAKE] , which would perfectly fit in the budget and also a vehicle meant for country roads. However I could not convince my parents. They told it was a diesel vehicle and unfit for city roads. I am uwilling to buy any car other than a Jeep. Hence I am waiting for some more time before I could turn my dream of a weekend getaway to reality

Weekend Time

Its weekend time yet again. I get an opportunity and plenty of time to write something. I have no words to describe how much happy I feel when I post something. So everytime I get a chance, I rope in something new over here. This time I wish to talk about weekends. How big the role of a weekend, has been in my life , esp after I turned pro.

I would like to mention all those things I have done on weekends , since my childhood days , to this day when I am a pro and also all those things which I would love to do during the coming weekends

Its a Monday, 09/July/2007. I have got enough time to rope in a new post before I start snooooring, grrrrrr!!!!!!!!! . This time its a pick from one of the books which I am currently reading. Infact I forgot to mention, about this in my previous post. The past weekend I not only watched the Live Earth Concert but also started reading a new book.

Its "India's unending journey" by Sir Mark Tully. I have hardly completed one chapter, that I notice some awesome, unique quotes. I wish to do a copy paste of few of those lines. So here it goes...

The Live Earth Concert - 7/7/07

The Live Earth Concert is a 7 continent concert series taking place on 7/7/07. Its assumed that 100 artists are to perform as a part of this concert all for one cause, unity against global warming. i was watching many artist perform at this very day, but one band stole the show with awsome drumming and fabulous guitar play.

It was " The Police ". The Police is a three piece outfit formed in 1977 and which split in 1986. But in 2007 they re-united to mark the 30th anniversary of the band.

I was totally impressed by their live performance especially the song "Roxanne" and "So Lonely" . I ve made most of my weekend, ie 7th july 2007, had a wonderful time watching the concert which was telecasted on Vh1.

I hope my post about global warming, did bring in some serious truth about our own planet earth. So its time everyone played a part in reducing the emission of green house gases. I end this post on a happy note ,as on this very day " The Taj Mahal " has found its place among the seven wonders of the world.

Global Warming - A threat to mankind

Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of the earth.

As a result glaciers are melting, sea levels are increasing, there is destruction to wildlife.It's clear that humans are responsible for the past century's warming by releasing heat-trapping gases as we power our modern lives. These gases are called the greenhouse gases.

The "greenhouse effect" is the warming that happens when certain gases in Earth's atmosphere trap heat. These gases let in light but keep heat from escaping, like the glass walls of a greenhouse.

First, sunlight shines onto the Earth's surface, where it is absorbed and then radiates back into the atmosphere as heat. In the atmosphere, “greenhouse” gases trap some of this heat, and the rest escapes into space. The more greenhouse gases are in the atmosphere, the more heat gets trapped.

Carbon dioxide is the most important green house gas. It takes 100 years for CO2 emission to disperse. Driving your vehicle and leaving house lights adds on CO2 quickly.

Regarding my bit to avoid global warming, I ve involved myself in planting lots of saplings over the past 7 years some of them have grown into trees. There are lots of trees in my locality courtesy the Forest Department. There are lots of nurseries close by where in I could get some of the best saplings. Apart from this I do have a solar water heating system and have avoided the use of incandescent lamps where ever possible.

Global Warming , Live earth concert , 7/7/07

Its the 7th of July, the year being 2007, i am witnessing one of the biggest concerts ever to fight the climate crisis. Its a unique concert and a unique concept, intended to drive individuals, corporations and governments to take action to solve global warming.

I wish to come up with a 2 post series where in the first post I give a brief intro to global warming and my bit of action against global warming . The second post is about the concert and one of the bands which re-united for a cause and indeed stole the show with their awesome performance. Then band is none other than " The Police " , yes Sting and the gang.

My GURUS' of .NET

This post is dedicated to all those people who have taught me .NET , helped me to get a better picture of OOP, and above all helped me grow in this IT industry.

I would like to thank to Chandrashekar SK , N Prashanth , Rajesh Seth , Salil Kumar for their tremendous support and encouragement. Its because of you people that I am completing two successful years.

I joined Sobha Renaissance as a fresher in 2005. There sure is loads of difference between college an industry. There is a gap which needs to be filled up. I was indeed lucky to have found seniors who sure helped me out during my tough times.

Chandrashekar SK is one person whom I will mention first in the list. He too joined SRIT almost at the same time as me. He joined as a lateral. There have been many such instances where amidst his tight schedule he has helped me. Its from him I ve learned loads of technical stuff. Its he who helped with my overall technical skills, be it C# or database or coding or patterns. I owe it to Chandrashekar. Apart from being my senior and a person with loads of experience, Chandrashekar SK is a easy to approach person. I still cherish the days when we used to go out for a walk after lunch, on the roads of AECS Layout, Kundalahalli. Even today though we work for different organizations we still discuss loads of technical stuff over the telephone and on few occasions we do hook up @ Jayanagar 4th Block.

N Prashanth is the next person whom I want to mention. He too was my senior. It is Prashanth to whom I used to ask all my dumb questions. He is the person who helped me nuture my basics. I have asked almost all the basic questions and still continue to ask silly questions but his calm reply coupled with a smile does clear my doubts.

Rajesh Kumar aka Seth is the next person whom I want to thank a lot. Seth is the person who helped me write clean code. Its was my habit to write shabby code since college. Making a code work was my first goal. Cleanliness, readability of code was secondary. But it was till I met Seth. There were many such occasions after I joined SRIT when I wrote shabby code and approached Seth. It was on one such instances he taught me the importance of clean code , the spacing provided , the naming convention followed , the documentation provided. Its something which I am following since that day and will follow during the coming years. Even when I program @ home on sample projects, I do write very clean code these days. Thanks Seth , ur words have done their trick.

Salil Kumar, is another person whom I have to thank a lot. Salil is from a different technology. But he offered me loads of knowledge and inspired me a lot. He is the person who has inspired me to cultivate the reading habit. I still continue to read loads of technical books. I do a lot of coding from my home and also in office. Its very important to read a lot and keep yourself updated with latest technology. Thanks Salil for your inspiring words. It sure did the trick

I wish all the above mentioned people loads of success in their respective careers too. I thank God for helping me to get in touch with such wonderfull people. They sure are my GURUS' of .NET. I wish God grants me a wish , where in I work for a team handled by them in the near future.

Anniversary Special

Its the month of July and the year being 2007. July will always remain a special month to me. Its during this month of the year 2005 that I turned a pro. Its also the month when i graduated.

I am about to complete to successful awesome years in the IT industry, amidst the every so wonderful awesome Microsoft Technologies. I regret making a choice of switching to Linux during my early days in this industry. But now its Microsoft Technologies all the way, thats for sure. Linux has indeed taken a backseat.

As I approach July 12, I thought of bringing in a new post, saying thanks to all those people who have taught me, who have stood by me, who have helped me grow technically and all those people who have spent their valuable time, mentoring me, when i was a fresher. They continue to provide me loads of courage even today, but we have parted ways, in other words we work for different organizations today.

When I thought of thanking all those people, I came up with the idea of bringing it up as a 2 post series, where in I thank all my seniors ie all my GURUS of .NET . In the second post I try to thank all my friends @ SRIT in particular freshers whose career kickstarted on the same day as mine.

The year 2005-06 will go down as one of the bestest years. I sure turned from a amateur college graduate to a thorough pro ( I hope I can call myself a pro ,, critics please comment ).

The Ku Klux Klan (KKK)

Its a Wednesday morning, I feel I have enough time to come up with a new post. This time its about something which I had recently read. Its about Ku Klux Klan.

I came to know about Ku Klux Klan for the first time when I was reading the book " Gone With the Wind " by Margaret Mitchell. I thought of putting it up in the blog. But somehow forgot.
It was in one of the Sherlock Holmes adventure stories that I once again read about Ku Klux Klan. (I think it was in the case of The Red Headed League)

Ku Klux Klan (KKK) is the name of several past and present organizations in the United States These organizations have often used terrorism, violence and acts of intimidation to oppress African Americans and other groups.

The First KKK group was formed in 1866. Formed by veterans of the Confederate Army it used to resist reconstruction. It also focused on turning down freed slaves. It often used violent methods and it was turned down in 1870.

Happiness - What makes me happy ?

Its weekend time again,
A golden day to put my thoughts on paper with a pen,

Its about happiness which I want to speak,

Indeed I am lucky to have found happiness in many forms,

Putting them in a blog makes them secure,

There are many other things which make my day,
In this post, all of which are soon going to make their way,

As a programmer , writing code ,
completing assigned tasks are my goals,

These are the things which help me,
earn my living and attain higher roles,

Debugging some of the best lines of code, not only
gives me happiness and immense pleasure,

But also improves my knowledge and
adds loads of value to my career.

Reading books by good authors, acts a welcome change,
All of which gives me an extra sight, with a long range,

Happy I am, when I hookup with my two friends on a weekend,
Everytime it turns out to be a memorable day, when my laughter never seems to end,

Talking about the good old college days, is what we cherish,
The thoughts of which are never going to perish,

Memorable it is , every time I go out with my cousins on a trip,
Any thoughts of work , is something which I try to skip,

Tonnes of jokes is what I plan to equip,
Finding all people on board, laughing with their heart out, gives the story a huge flip,

On such a occasion, happy I am ,
to stop along the highway at night,

Taking a walk, singing at the top of my voice ,
is sure an awesome sight,

My cousins try to capture my snap and
video with all their might,

Its nothing but true happiness on my face,
which shines bright,

An apple a day keeps the doctor away,
But it used to be the workout at the gym , which helped me everyday,

The gym was a meeting place, for people,
from differnt age groups and different professional background,
All of whom thought it was the best place to get unwound,

Often it turned out to be the exercise which we used to burrow,
While busy we were, speaking about our joy and sorrow,

To obtain a sculpted body, is where I failed,
But the time I spent at the gym, is when all happiness prevailed,

At the end of the day, its not money
which takes the center stage,

But its all about these countable happy golden moments,
which you are able to put on a page.

My Basics

Its been yet another day , when a worry has eluded me , from getting a sound sleep at night. Its one of these days when my basics have gone for a toss.

By saying basics I mean , my basics with respect to technology. As I approach office every morning, my only wish is to get more confident with respect to my basics. But today is not my day.

I ve been let down by my own self. I ve not kept my eyes open to technology. Hence now I am keeping my eyes open at night , without sleep, thinking over and over again , kicking the bean bag. Hopefully its a lesson for me.

According to me , whatever technology we may be purusing, the heart or the core of the technology can be conquered with only strong rock solid basics. Thats my assumption. If anyone think , something else please comment.

Hopefully I have learnt my lesson and while proceeding ahead along the technical ladder, I would not make such mistakes , where in I find , ifs and buts in my basics.

I would love to brush up from level -1.

Hopefully its gonna happen this weekend.

I forgot to mention that , I get loads of support from my team , my Lead , who are ever so patient to answer my queries (all of which are silly though). Thank you guys , you guys make my day,everyday.

Things worth learning from Dil Chahta Hai

1. Freaking out and enjoying life doesn't need drugs or cigarettes.

2. There are relationships apart from Bf/Gf, marriage,siblings,friendship that can be very emotional and true which is beyond the understanding of many people.

3. And yeah even though U may be the best of friends there is always a limit which should never be crossed. Then it starts hurting...........

4. Improving U r imperfections after you realize it, always take some time.

5. Believe in Love , true love will never let you down.

6. Never be ashamed to go back to your old friends, friends are there to understand your mistakes.

7. Whenever you need your friend, remember that he is just a phone call away...distances can't separate friends.

8. In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends

Best Moments in Life

Few days back , I had recieved a mail forward, from a friend of mine, which quoted some of " the best moments in life ". Here I am bringing it as a post. Hope you folks agree with the content mentioned.

My weekend (16 , 17 June 2007) , an attempt to bring in self discipline

This weekend's official over. Its 8 in the evening and its time for me to press my clothes , gear up for tomorrow. Here I am writing a new post (Trying to keep it minimal) where in I want to tell that I ve been successful in imbibing a bit of self discipline.

Yes , my previous post did the trick. The major change this weekend was I was not at all in front of my I D I O T box. Fidee-di-deee , hurrah , I had lots of time for other activities.

For the past few weeks I was watching a bit more of this so called television , and end up with headaches , boredom , idleness . Thank god there s no headache this weekend.

I was on the verge of watching Oceans 13 this weekend , somehow escaped !!!!

I did loads of stuff this weekend. Coming up with three posts on saturday and sunday (winding it with this one) , meeting relatives over the weekend, loads of talk, lots of reading , about Queen and Freddie Mercury over the internet , lots of time sleeping , dreaming and a little bit of gardening.

I ve read three different books this weekend.

The book by Lance Armstrong , which I ve not completed though, Malicious Gossip by Khushwant Singh which infact I completed , The High Performance Entrepreneur, by Subroto Bagchi , which I ve almost completed and not to forget technical too .

I wish all my weekends are as good as this !!!

OST - Original Sound Track

Original or Official Sound Track can be termed as the musical soundtrack sold for any movie.

I have always had a special liking towards OST 's . I feel its not just OST , its an anthem in itself. After downloading the video for the T2 , OST , I felt I had to come up with a small post , putting together all those sound tracks which I adore a lot , which I keep listening to , over and over again.

Freddie Mecury , " Mr Farenheit " - A tribute




Well.. I cant imagine myself coming up with two posts on the same day. Well its true. After pinning down a post about the days , when I was down , I am here hoping to write about a person , infact a great singer , song writer , musician and awesome piano man.

He is none other than Freddie Mercury also known as Farrokh Bulsara, known to the world as the frontman of Queen.

Freddie Mercury was born on the spice island of Zanzibar. He did his schooling at St Peters School @ Panchagani , outside Mumbai.

It was until late 2005 or 2006 , that I was not a huge fan of Queen. Until then I was aware that there was a band called Queen , and they had a major hit in the form of " We Will Rock You ".

But once I got to know that Freddie Mercury did his schooling @ Panchagani , Maharashtra , I was all curious to know more about them, their music.

Bohemian Rhapsody , Radio Ga Ga , Another One Bites the Dust , I want to break free , Its a kind of magic my , are my all time favorite Queen songs.

What inspired me to write this post on this very day ?

Well I saw , the video of the song , " Its a kind of Magic " by Queen on VH1 and instantaneously thought of writing about this very talented musician.

Also I am a huge fan of Freddie Mercury , his voice . Any person who checks out the song " Its a kind of magic " will surely become a fan of Queen and Freddie Mercury.

As a huge fan of Queen and U2 , I have always felt both the bands cannot be compared head to head. Both of them are the greatest.

I wish Queen was still around , giving the world some more memorable numbers. But thats not the case.

Here I end my post , quoting the Queen era as " A kind of Magic ".

My days of depression ( or can I call it self pity )

This time I ve chosen to write about the topic , which I ve always found hard to digest. Its about the days of my life , when my luck had ran out .

My blog was initially called " The Second Chapter of my Life " , since I started my blog with posts about my engineering days ie from 2001 which have brought loads of happiness to me. I have never mentioned anything about the days prior to 2001 , except one instance where I talk about U2.

This weekend is also very special to me . I found a new inspirational book , at one of the road side book vendors @ Domlur signal , while I was coming back from workplace. The book is " Its not about the Bike , My journey back to Life " by Lance Armstrong.

This book inspired me to bring about a post about my hard to digest days ( I hope I ve passed them ). Thank you Lance.


As I am writing this blog, I am also doing another activity in parallel. I am watching one of my all time favorite vidoes of all time " Over and Over again ". I somehow found a valid reason to download this video, this very day. There are many reasons associated with it. The prime being , It is the middle of the month , and I ve still 700 MB of download available (via ISP) . My brother told me to use this 700 MB somehow by the end of the month ( Value for Money u see !! ). Instantly I downloaded this video.

Oops , I ve not mentioned about the video.

Its from the Motion Picture SoundTrack of Terminator 2 . You guessed it right.

Its " You Could be Mine " by Guns 'N' Roses. Not only I love the song and the video there are also other things which I love. I have been a huge fan of Guns 'N' Roses, also Arnold , his moves , his walk , the way he carries the " Sawed Off Shot Gun " ( From my knowledge of past Computer Games like HITMAN , DELTA FORCE , MAX PAYNE ) , its just awesome.

I love both T2 and T3. Above all every person who has ever hit the GYM , looks @ Arnold as his idol ( I too do) . I assume all the GYM S' across Bangalore have atleast one Arnold poster.

Also I am a huge fan of AXL Rose .

So with a good inspirational book , coupled with an awesome all time favorite video on board, I prepare to give a light highlight into the years of 1999 , 00 , 2001 .

It was during my PU days , there was altogether change in my personality , my attitude. All of a sudden my enthu was no where to be found. I felt as though I had lost my way.

I continued with life but I had lost all my confidence , there was no one to pump me up, no U2 tracks too. I was all by myself. The clock was ticking.

Two years into PU ...

It was now 2001, when I completed my PU exams and CET. I had a horrible result. My academic graph had taken a complete " U Turn ". With the CET rank I got , My hope of getting admission into an engineering college had almost ended.

The months of May , June of 2001 were the toughest time of my life. There are loads of opportunities other than engineering , loads of fields other than software. But the feeling of not getting a BE degree when all your counterparts get a BE degree , is totally unimaginable. And also choosing something else than software ?? , well I dint want to do that though..

My days were totally dark. Once an enthu guy I was , now was a sober gentleman. Though I never cried all during these days I was always locked up in my room, I spent most of my time sleeping (after my PU and CET results) , I used to sleep 16 hrs a day ( Can u imagine that ?? ) . I dont know why ??

My parents were on the verge of taking me to a "Pschychiatrist " or can I say they even to this day , they are , to know why ??? , to know whether I was in depression.

I too dont know the answer to this.

I hated meeting any people other than my own family members ,as where ever I went , people would always ask me

" Why my performance was so dismal .??" ,
" What was in store for the future ??" ,
" Are u still thinking of joining an engineering college ?"
" Which engineering colleges you were thinking of "
" Why dont you join a BSc course and quit when you get admitted into an engineering college ??"
" Why dont you appear for the exams one more time , the next year??"
" Why dont you join CIVIL Engineering??"
" Start making a note of engineering colleges in neighboring cities/towns".

I had no answer , I had begun to hate myself, hence I avoided literally everyone , anyone and everything.

Thank God I got admitted into a engineering college, that too close to my house , I had something to cheer for. Atleast I would be awarded the same degree as my contemporaries.

To this date this is a deep scar. Even today I ve no interest to attend any weddings , nor go to any movies. I do watch movies but only @ my place itself when someone lends his DVD or my brother gets one . Else I watch them only on " Star TV , Zee and Sony".

A lot of people ask me why dont I freak out ?, why dont I go out to Forum or join any of my friends who are going to Forum , Corner House or Tamarind or Angeethi.

My answer is I ve no interest to enter the city on weekends. I do freak out in my own ways , as written in my previous blogs. I prefer to spend my time at home , amidst nature , and all alone

The habit of locking myself up during my bad days , has taught me one golden rule. To spend time with myself all alone. I enjoy doing that the most.

I even plan to start meditating someday atleast for 15- 20 mins once in a weekend.

I do love to take time out to think , rethink , as to what should I do , what makes me happy and this move has made me really very very happy . Now I know what my goals are , the purpose of my existance , my distant dreams .

Though my dismal performance @ PU continues to be a permanent scar. I ve learnt to live with it.

Failure is the stepping stone to success.

Well its absolutely true , I ve learnt a lot after a failure.


My journey in this software industry has been awesome , and I ve been thoroughly supported by my GURUS' from my first organization Sobha Renaissace IT.

They are Chandrashekar SK , NP Prashanth , Nishad CP , Rajesh Seth and few others. I am thinking of coming up with a post dedicated to my gurus.. I sure will do that.

Well as far I am concerned , I continue to enjoy life , I thank god for that.

" I am proud to say I have made a comeback in a strong way , proving a strong point , silencing my critics ( Cant metion who ??). I hope to still grow as a more intellectual person . I hope God gives me strength. "

One thing which I really hate is to come out into the city during weekends.

I wont do that unless its necessary to the Core...

I end this post by thanking all my GURUS (Seniors) who amidst their busy routine , have taken time out , to sit next to me (when I was a fresher) , to teach me , help me debug , write better code , understand and feel OOPS and above all helped me to become a better individual

Self pity or self discipline

This post is to keep me inspired always .

One monday morning , I recieved a powerful quote , as a part of my official mail.

I wish to put it up here , so that I see it everytime , I open my blog.

It inspires me a lot.

" Anytime you concentrate on the difficulty of the work instead of its results or rewards, you’re likely to become discouraged. Dwell on it too long, and you’ll develop self-pity instead of self-discipline.

No matter how much it seems to be about talent and time, 9 times out of 10 it’s really about discipline ."

This seems to be a quote from a book.

I wish to bring in more discipline with respect to myself. Doing things in a more satisfying way, making most of weekends , being more focussed , spending more time amidst mother nature , giving more time for myself , some reserved time for gardening, watering plants , watching less television , reading more, are few of them.

I pray , asking God to give me more strength to imbibe self discipline.

Legends of Rock - BONO and the gang

Its weekend time once again . I am welcoming the weekend , in the most incredible way possible. It gives me loads of satisfaction , when I write about something which I feel really good. There are many such instances in my blog , be my friends , be the books which I read or be my illness (remember blessing in disguise). It just opens up a new world in itself.

This time , I wish to write all about my favorite band, about someone whose inspired me all through my childhood days , my rookie days and continues to inspire me in every way possible.

This post is dedicated to BONO and the gang - better known to the world as
U2. " The legends from Ireland ".

It was in 1988 , I was a 4 year old kid, when I had my first acquaintence with U2 track. Yes , it was quite early. If u recall its almost 19 years into the past.

The track was " Where the Streets have no name " . It was from their 1987 album " Joshua Tree ".

Even to this day , its stands as one of my all time favorite anthems.

U2 has also provided us with many amazing songs. There are many to number. But above all the two songs which inspire me the most are

" Stuck in the moment " and " Walk On "

The band, their music has remained unchanged over a couple of decades. It has touched,inspired millions of people world wide.

There has been many a situation when I have been upset , down , felt lonely. I ve always found a U2 song , which pumps me up, gets me going again.

This post is a dedicated to a person , infact dedicated to group of talented musicians , who have touched my life in many ways , with their amazing songs.

I am unwell .. Is it Sad or a Blessing in disguise ... Thank you God

Strange seems to be the title of my new post. Infact it is.. It is during one of these days , i am coming up with a blog.

Its the 6th of June , 2007.

I am down with viral fever since 3 days. Its sad that all these 3 days are working days. My sick leaves at my organization are all over , and my annual leaves have to be applied now. Some people say this affects ur appraisal (since i am in my First Year @ this very organization ) . Well who cares !!!!!

I ve never worked for appraisals , and i will never work for appraisals.

Though I am quite upset , tat i am unable to be present @ the office premises , due to my illness , but still I feel this whole chapter is a blessing in disguise.

Everytime i take leave during working days , I am pleased to mention that I get to spend the maximum time for myself. Myself means me all alone . I am locked up all alone in my room , no one to disturb, where I get to interact with myself. I do listen to a lot of music during this time.

I call it a blessing in disguise , as I get time to rethink my strategies , restructure my goals and objectives and above all read a book to the fullest.

I get all the time in this world , to plan and come up with steps , which will eventually help me establish a , work - personal life balance.

Everytime I fall ill and take leave during workdays , I wish to find a book , which inspires me to go back to my organization with altogether a new look , new set of goals and objectives.

The last time I was ill during a workday , I remember reading " The Greatness Guide " by Robin Sharma for a second time . A truly inspirational book , no matter how many times I read it. Prior to that I was reading " Wise and Otherwise " by Sudha Murthy which is another awesome inspirational book .

This time too I was fortunate enough to find one such awesome book . Its none other than " The High Performance Entrepreneur " by Subroto Bagchi.

Folks might be wondering , Is this guy behind opening a new organization ??? . Well absolutely incorrect. Its not that I want to build an organization from scratch , that i read this book but I am a huge fan or Mr Subroto Bagchi's writing.

I am totally impressed by his column " Times of Mind " for the Times of India , the article " The Fallen Tomato Cart " being my all time favorite.

I dont read Times of India though , I read his postings from the archive maintained at the official MindTree website.

When I found this book @ my place , I could not resist reading it . I ve no words to describe the book , One of its kind.

After having read the book , I feel totally inspired . I have also come up with a " two month planner " , where in I have pinned down my goals and objectives .

One of them includes , getting technically more stronger..

I would like to thank God for this blessing in disguise , for forcing me to slow down , to take a break , to take time out of my regular routine , to rethink , come up with a new plan and above all spend some awesome time with myself.

This blog makes loads of sense to me ,, well about others , please provide feedback
