Its almost 4 weeks, since the last time I had visited the disco. In these 4 weeks, I really had out done myself with the work, felt too much stress. So had to find a way out to destress. As I wrote in my previous post, a leave on a working day was denied to me, so had to do something on this weekend.
Friday night was one such occasion, where I stayed late, was roaming around little India, sat @ Hookers for about an hour and half, then came back home at 2:30 am in the morning.
But Saturday was a bit different, went to the disco this time the one with Indian music. Before that, went to Orchard road to look out for Christmas decorations and some performances happening over there.
Then went to Clarke Quay where in me and my friend sat for sometime having a drink and felt hungry so we went to Boat Quay to have food.
So it was around 1am in the morning when we were done with food, took some photos and then ended up at Clarke Quay. Decided to go to the Rupee room and danced from 1 30 am till 5 am in the morning.
Took the first train home and have been sleeping all day.
So tomorrow all set for office.
Cheers,

Leave or no leave..
After days and days of working, I finally did some release to the QA, hoping I would get a day off after the release. I was overjoyed thinking of a one day leave during the week.
I thought everyone would agree that I had worked quite hard since last few weeks including Saturday and Sunday too and give me a day off.
So went and told my manager that I wanted to take a leave on December 24 2010. But sadly my manager refused to grant me leave and told me to take leave only on the next friday since QA work is going on, I need to be there.
Now even though my mind refused to think, to code, I still had to manage a day ie today and I did it.
Gosh. finally its weekend.
Hoping to dump my stress and frustration over the weekend..
Cheers,

Some relief finally
After days and days of coding, finally did a kind of release to the QA team. There are lots of missing functionality in the code and lots of things are buggy, but still at the end of the day, my back feels a bit lighter.
Now I can look at some other stuffs. Moreover I can enjoy on this weekend. No need to think about work. But still two more days to go before the weekend comes up.
I still feel a bit nervous about the missing functionality in the code and about the bugs which shall be reported tomorrow onwards. But yes, something has finally gone for testing.
When I told my friend Nageswara Rao, he told to party, celebrate..
Incidentally, my other room mate gave jamoons, celebrating birth of his niece back in India...
So..... having jamoon, today feeling a bit lighter too.
Thanks a ton God.

Sandeep

Listening to music...
This week, I took some time out, to catch up with some of my old favorite songs.
Though these days, I am not actively listening to any english music, I adore the songs of yesteryears.
I love many bands. One such band is The Beatles. I knew nothing about the Beatles till 1993. On one fine day, my father took me to Brigade road, to get the Beatles tapes. I still remember that day. Coming home I started listening to the Beatles.
I love the song Sha la la la , baby its you.. I liked many other songs.. though I do not remember all of them.
So here is my post remembering the day when I go to know about the Beatles for the first time. Yep its 17 years back. But I still remember the day very well..
Cheers,
Sandeep

One such strange day...
Today was one such strange day where in I had taken leave from work,. but still ended up at workplace.
Yes, Monday blues had caught up with me. I had headache and was in no mood to go to the office. So woke up an hour late and called my manager saying that I wont be coming to work. Then again I dozed off.
But I was up in an hour's time. This time I was wondering what would I do sitting at home. My headache had calmed down a bit. So decided to go to workplace and ended up at work. So took my colleagues and manager by surprise.
I still remember one such instance, were I had previously been, in which I told my manager that, I would not be coming to office but still ended up at work.
Yes, it was during one of my earlier companies. I had told my manager I will not be coming to the office, instead I was planning to attend a walk-in interview.
So when I went for the interview, it was called off and I had nothing to do for the day. My workplace was close to the place where the walk-in was happening and as a result, I ended up going back to the office. Strange is it.
Yes, today was one such day (but I was not attending any interviews) and the other day is dated about 5 years back.
Cheers,
Sandeep

Spoke to a friend after a long time
To my surprise, I got a response from a friend, whom I was trying to contact since many days. Over the last 5 years, I have met many wonderful people at work. So this person incidentally happened to be one of my friends from my first work place.
Yes, its been almost 3 years, since I had last spoken to him, though we did kept in touch with mail.
So feeling kind a good speaking to someone after a period of 3 years. Incidentally he is in UK since one year.
Loads of things we talked about and unknowingly we ended up speaking for more than an hour.
You never know how time flies when we are speaking to interesting people. Yep..
Janardhan you are one such brilliant person. All the best in your future endeavors. Surely we shall meet in India.
Cheers,
Sandeep

Some inspiration from Pravs world
10 steps to Success.. not sure how many do I follow religiously.. but surely worth a mention..
1. Self-Belief:
Success is begins in the mind. One has to be a believer, first, if one wishes to be an achiever. Never under-estimate yourself. You have no idea how often can you surprise yourself. So to begin with, let's get in the belief, "I Can."
2. Clarity of Vision:
There is no point running around without knowing where one wants to reach. you must get your job cut out. Greatest achievers in the world have been visionaries. Know exactly what you are best at and give it your best shot.
3. Setting the Right Goals:
The goals should be realistic .The goals should be achievable ,and yet challenging enough - neither too easy nor too difficult -something in the middle.
4. Be focused:
If the sun's rays are focused on a piece of paper with a lens, the intensity of the concentrated energy burns the paper. Focus on your objective will enhance the intensity of the effects of your efforts.
5. No Short Cuts to Success:
There are no short cuts to success. Divide your overall goals into smaller targets. Divide your monthly plans into weekly and weekly plans into daily plans and see how simple can things be.
6. Take Risks:
Without any risk no progress is possible. Life comes to a stable standstill. People who take chances are the people who get ahead in life. The only way to reduce risk is to take risks.
7. Take the Initiative:
People who take the initiative make the most of their lives. Proactive people do not wait for success to happen; rather they make it happen. As they say, 'JUST DO IT'.
8. Never Hesitate to Struggle:
No one has ever climbed a mountain just by looking at it. Struggle, hard struggle, is a key to success.
9. Own Responsibility:
Failure to hit the bull's eye is never the fault of the target. People, who own complete responsibility of their lives, are the people who make the most of it.
10. Never Give Up:
Many people who failed in life, where those who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up. Success demands extra-ordinary amount of perseverance. Never, never, give up.
Cheers,
Sandeep

Changing blog template...
Well, not sure its a ritual or what. I end up changing my blog template once in a year, or may be in the beginning of the year.
But this time I am doing it before the new year itself. Not sure why.
Also I have loads to write about my experiences in Singapore.
How it all started and how it all is shaping. But frankly speaking, I am not good at writing stuffs, as and when it happens. I love to write my memories out.
So hopefully I can recollect many such instances which I have encountered in the past 6 months and blog about them in the coming days.
Also till now I have never used the set date option while posting. Hopefully I shall use this time to make sure I write about stuffs which happened in appropriate months. (and also increase my post count for the year ;P)

Watched all episodes of Tintin
Well, well well, I finished with all the episodes of Tintin. Yup thoroughly enjoyed all the episodes. My favorites include TinTin and the Picarros, flight 714, 7 crystal balls and prisoner of sun.
But all in all relived many many childhood memories.
