EverGreen Hero turns 85

Yes. September 26 was the birthday of Dev Anand. He turned 85.

To be frank and honest, if you ask me.. who is your favorite Bollywood star, its got to be Dev Anand. I have not just liked, enjoyed but loved his movies as well.

Last saw his movie few years back. But everything about Dev Anand movies, according to me, is just awesomely great.

Here s wishing him a very happy birthday..

Gandhi Jayanthi

As we approach, October 2, I wish to write about something which I recently saw on one of the social networking sites.

October 2 happens to be the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi. Yes, he is the father of our nation.

What I observed on orkut, was that, there was a Community called " I HATE MAHATMA GANDHI ". Well, I was kind of surprised and sad looking at this. Yes, its after all some individuals opinion. No can argue with that.

But, for a person who dedicated almost his entire life, to see, his people free, I thought this was a little bit unanticipated.

In these days, people do not have even a single day to do Community Service. Yes, take my example. I have backed off on one occasion, when provided an opportunity. I feel these days, money takes the driver seat. Forget sacrificing entire life. Its a rare feat achieved by a few only.

Even Mahatma Gandhi was highly educated. But why did he chose to do something for the people of this country? Some trademarks of people who are really great leaders, visionaries.

I can salute and say, it is because of Mahatma Gandhi and many other freedom fighters that we are free today and can think about other stuffs like, ya, exceeding in so called technology.

So is it right to say " I hate Gandhi ".

I don't think so. Every Indian must be proud that a leader like Mahatma Gandhi was born in India..

That is what I can say.

Manned Elevators

I have been working out of Kalyani Magnum campus for over a month now. It is located @ JP Nagar 3 Phase.

I noticed something, in the recent times... which I found different.

The elevators here are manned. I haven't seen elevators with operators @ many places. Not atleast @ places where I have worked.

Do let me know, @ any places where you have seen manned elevators. (In IT companies I mean). It really does not make a bit difference to me, whether its manned or unmanned.

But if you see, the better part of it, its generating a fair bit of employment well. And I am happy for that.

3 Cheers...

3 Day weekend... Yet again !!!

The day is 25 September 2008. The day is Thursday. Its weekend time for me. Tomorrow there is a team outing, sponsored by the company. But I am not going to be a part of it. I have good reasons, not to attend it. But, yes, some of my friends were terribly disappointed @ my attitude towards the whole event.

All I can say, is cheer up guys, there is always a next time.

So now I have an uphill task for the weekend. Do not know, how much do I accomplish.

But surely, a 3 day weekend has lit up my eyes.

Looking forward to post some more stuffs( hopefully meaningful) over here.

Till then.. Cheers.

QUEEN: Who Wants To Live Forever

September 5, was the birthday, of Freddie Mercury. One of my favorite singers, of all time. Could not post anything on that day. So here I am trying to add a song which I love. Its " Who wants to live forever " by Queen.

Freddie Mercury, Brian May at their very best.

Recieving End.....

I was at the receiving end, after partly reading one of the books which I had. The result. My whole Saturday went awry. Yes, its true, sometimes, some books can literally turn your day upside down.

You have to be very careful when you choose books to read. I did make a huge mistake. When I told it to my brother, he too said, he made a big mistake bringing the book home.

He is quite wiser than me.. He had stopped reading the book, just after 55 pages. It just took me 95 pages, to realize that, I had to stop reading that stuff.

Regarding the book, I dont want to reveal it. And if you think, I am spreading hatred by means of this post. No. " One man's food is other man's poison ". Some people may end up liking the book. I have nothing against it. Just that, my day went wrong after reading 95 pages.

A little bit of this and a little bit of that...

If you have seen my blog yesterday and today, you might notice a good deal of change. I sometime read, Canara Bank, baseline, saying, " We change, for the one's we love". Do not know whether its 100% the same wordings or not. But it looked the same.

If you could recollect, I had written a post about me being pissed off, with Canara Bank Uttarahalli, the truth is, I ended up opening a FD @ Canara Bank Uttarahalli itself, coz the only reason being it was close to my house. Well, after that, I have never been to that bank, not even to get an entry in my passbook. Don't know whether the interest amount of the FD has landed in my account or not.

By the way, why did I change my blog a bit. Just like that. I felt, it needed a change. Poor chap ( I am talking about my blog). It had to bear my goofy like pic for more than a year now. So I thought, let it make way for something else.

But what will come over there.? Another Blog Feed / Comment Feed / Photo Slide Show??

Naaa Re Naa...

I have been reading many blogs off lately. Though I use SharpReader to a good extent, many times, I end up visiting blogs of people. So by clicking and clicking, I came across a common thing in many blog. Either to the right or left bottom/top side of the blog, there used to a map, with title, most commonly, visitors from different parts of the globe.

I know my blog has least visitors. Though you may think, 1500+ visitors, is still a good number, I would like to openly admit, 300+ out of them, might be, coz of me refreshing and refreshing.

So while the whole exercise took me 15 mins to complete, it also incremented visitor count by almost 10 numbers. (considering I was beating around the bush , I registered a different blog, and tried to modify their code, to point to this blog. It refused saying, an error, the user/blog is not registered, so had to go back and forth for almost 6 times.)

It was quite simple adding it. Lemme see tomorrow what shows up.

Cheers,

And forgot to tell something..

A little bit of this and little bit of that ?... I think the title matched with the post, if not completely, atleast 40%.

Btw, its a bit of lyrics from a song by Michelle Branch, where she collaborated with Carlos Santana. Its up to you to guess the song.

Good Programmer or not ???

Disclaimer (Yet again) :

The post which I read from the internet is authored by a well known software personality. I do not want to take any credit from his post. I would definitely disclose the URL of it, provided you let me know who are you? Else you can do a search and end up @ it as well..

************************************************************************************

Hmmm... (Sigh).. As I read a post.. on the website of a software person. The problem is, I am sad after reading that post. I did show it up to some of my colleagues at work place.

The post was about how to screen and shortlist good programmers, and also talked about who are good programmers. It said, good programmers start young, very young. They are so much fascinated about the way things work, that they end up tweaking, tweaking, almost everything (i am talking about software related stuff) . So when about to graduate, they would have programmed in a variety of environments, (open source, closed source).

Why I am feeling sad is, I started programming @ literally 17 yrs of age, First year of Engineering. I did not tweak around with anything, doing what was needed the syllabi (my bad), (not so keep it a secret), to save my *&^. That qualifies me as an average programmer.

I always want to be seen as a little more than avg programmer. But after reading this post, not sure whether I will make it there.

But when it comes to blogging, I am happy that, I have made a start atleast, at a very young age.
I am 24 as I write this post and I started one year back, meaning I was 23 then. Though I am far away from giving gyaan (intellectual posts), I manage to write some crappy stuffs over here. I am happy for that. Going ahead, I may and want to better myself.

And regarding being a better programmer, Hmmmm....(sigh), I can only pray ...god give me more strength to make it up there ..

Btw, there is a sloppy bit of writing on this post. Do let me know.. if you find it...

Cheers,

Thanks God.

Wrote a disclaimer.....

After almost, over an year of blogging, I have written a disclaimer. Why? The reason being just felt like writing one, since many days. Today, the thought just came across my mind and there it goes.

By the way... how is it.. do let me know..

And Mr Kranti Vikram, if you are reading this.. the last thing what I want, is a comment from your side.. coz.. I know, you feel, there is a comic side to my blog as well.. :P

Something to read.. Apart from tech stuff..

So.. in my previous posts, you would have figured it out that, I was looking for something to read apart from technical stuff.. I have finally found two books, written by two of the most wonderful, highly intellectual people. Here are they..

1. Great Expectations by Charles Dickens
2. ___________________________

So I abruptly end this post.. You know why.. I need to start reading them. Which one I begin with?? Any Guesses..

Its the first one.. And considering I need to catch a few people online tonight... I better hurry up..

And regarding my earlier mentioned book... " The Shalimar Clown " by Salman Rushdie.. Its with some of my friends.. Will take some time before actually I get to read that.. may be 1 week time...

Bye for now.

Cheers.

Sharp Reader @ home....

Today I installed SharpReader @ home. Something which I should have done , when I was a fresher. Well.. " Better late than later "..

I wanted to put a more detailed picture of my subscriptions. But, it may seem I am boasting. So I dont want to .

Regarding the highlighted thing, its my blog.. Keep on guessing, how did I subscribe it, since you dont find any subscription url at my site. Do let me know... if you figure it how...

Regarding so many unread entries.. 877... Its not that, I ve not read them.. But again its up to you to figure it out.... " y "???

Unable to read anything..

I have not been to the office for almost a week now, owing to my fever. But one thing remained unfulfilled during these days. I wanted to read something, infact read some non technical book to be more precise.

I thought of reading The Shalimar Clown by Salman Rushdie. But somehow, you know, lazyness never has any bounds. I could not read anything. One more fear I have is that, if I start reading something non technical... it will go on and on.. I started reading about the Diary of Anne Frank in March, even though the book got over in less than 12 days, the hangover remained for almost a month after that, everyday I used to search in Google for more and more info, pictures of the Frank family, their house, their hideout etc etc. I end up doing reverse engineering.... So now you can imagine, why I am so tentative... !!!

I hope to start reading atleast from today. Lemme see.. I will post about it. I will start reading only after I get to know what the book is all about.

Other than that, I have unearthed a book on Yoga in my house. It seems to be around 20 years old. I always wanted to learn yoga and do it side by side along with regular gym. But till now I have not done that. But moving ahead, I hope to do so.

Anyways.. I will keep you updated on that.

Cheers for now..

Time ... Please.. Part 2

There are several things which I learnt about after this typhoid fever.

1. Going to the gym reduces my immunity to a great extent.(Ask me how I will tell you, but at the same time, it is something which I will never stop going to, what so ever.)

2. Three plus years of working in the S/W industry has made me literally an asshole. Sitting under air conditioning, drinking bottled/packaged water have become some of my traits now, without which I may end up either heavily sweating (may be even at room temp) or as you know end up with typhoid (water problem). I am ashamed to say that I literally need these artificial systems to lead a healthy living.

3. I went in for a blood test. All WBC, RBC count everything seems to be fine. But my cholestrol levels are under severe scanner, so hence forth,, no no no oily foods whatsoever.

And for your information, I am not supposed to eat even bakery products. Forget Icecreams. The last time I remember eating ice cream was about 2 years back. So from now on, you can expect me to be back in shape very soon provided I follow this supreme strict diet regime.

Inference:::: Chasing false money I have literally ruined myself, my life.

Well the information industry has lots to offer in terms of technology, but, given an alternative, I would definitely think twice, coz health is wealth.

Lastly.. hats off to all the construction workers and other laborers, who inspite of drinking, tap water, working in hot sun, end up with smiles on their faces, at the end of each day.

And me??? You dont see me smiling in half of the snaps uploaded here... and in the rest.. it is me, claiming a false smile (pretending)... I wish I better myself sooooon....

Time...Please.. Part 1

First of all.. no write ups for the last 12 days.. Yes.. I happened to suffer from typhoid fever for a few days. Well, the truth is my immune system had gone down so badly, that I ended up with not just fever but typhoid fever.

I have taken a much needed break from office work for a week, now.

But at the same time all my activities have been thrown out of gear.

I have taken 10 injections(straight to the nerves) of Monocef to get rid of the typhae bacteria.

I can now say, I am all fine, but you never know, when that stupid bacteria will be back with you, within a month s time. So I am under precautionary scanner.

So now you know, why I did not post anything for almost 10 days.
