Incidentally August 2008, has churned out 17 posts (18 including this one) from my side.
It is in the second position after July 2007 (31 posts).

Btw if I recollect what was so special about the month of July 2007.

1. Live Earth Concert - 07/07/07.

Where I became a huge fan of the, then re-united band, The Police (1976-84) I think. Just found out that my father is a huge fan of the Police. (Ain't that incredible).

2. Never to forget outing.

On July 27, I had been on a team outing, went to a resort close to Nandi Hills. Can't believe its 1 year old. Thanks to all the people who made that event an awesome one.

Btw whats so special about August 2008.

1. Never to forget trip to Bandipur, Ooty and encounter with some wild animals.

2. Found some new audiences to this blog. Not to keep it a secret, they are my current company colleagues.

Cheers,,,

It must have been love

Can you guess... what the post will talk about??

Guess ... guess....

If you think, I am writing about my love, my crush, love @ first sight or something, you are absolutely wrong.. It must have been love is an awesome song by the band Roxette. OST from the movie "Pretty Woman".

Incidentally this is the song which I was listening to, today, @ the gym.

I almost forgot to tell what the post is all about. For the past 8-10 months, since I am going to the gym, I always used to hear the radio play. 91.9 FM Radio Indigo used be the chosen station.
It always felt weird to hear ad-breaks while exercising. In other words, to be frank, I just would feel like taking a nap in the gym itself, instead of exercising

Well, common, I love 91.9 FM but gym is not the ideal place to listen to the radio. I always wanted to hear some upbeat songs. Songs which would help you to increase your exercise repetition count. (And btw even without your knowledge).

The good news is that, my gym instructor has brought in an MP3 player and now no more radio plays.

You must be wondering, " this song by Roxette, is this a under groovy upbeat song what this dumb guy was looking for?" . No its an absolutely mushy song. But as long as I love it, do I care?

@ Bandipur : Part 2

In the previous post, I had written about my experiences @ Bandipur, Madumalai forest @ 2 am in the morning. I wanted to tell about how I felt to see mother nature @ its very best.

So here it goes...

Well... the best part of this whole drive was that.. throughtout the entire route amidst the forest, there was total darkness [thats why its a forest , me dumbo :@ :( ] , with vehicles on the road, here and there [infact its true that we spotted more deer, in terms of count, than vehicles; again its a forest, me dumbo :)]. Some stretch of the road, was awfully bad, potholes covered with water. But it hardly mattered, since the excitement in the air was so much, I literally forgot about the road.

I just felt like going out of the vehicle and reaching out to mother nature. Just trees, trees and more trees. Total silence, total peace. Then here and there you come across herds of deer, grazing. It was just awesome. But I was not supposed to venture out of the vehicle all alone @ 2: am in the morning.

An experience which I cannot describe with words. All these days, I used to watch Animal Planet and wonder how it feels like being in a forest . It was now that I really; really experienced it. It was exciting, thrilling and worth a million. [ Atleast worth a sleepless night, waiting, waiting and waiting to enter the forest ]

I would love to go to Bandipur, Madumalai again and again. Let me see. If possible with my office colleagues.

@ Bandipur & Madumalai @ 2:00 am in the morning

Well... Its true. I had been to Ooty 3 weeks back, which according to me was a memorable trip.
I did forget to write about it. Though I will not write about the whole two day trip in a detailed post, I would like to write a small post about my encounter with some wild animals on the way to Ooty.

Well, the day was 25 July 2008, we left Bangalore @ 10:30pm in the night. We reached Bandipur area around 1:45 am in the morning. After a little slowdown, we entered the forest around 2:00 am in the morning.

You may not find much vehicular traffic during this time of the day. Although there were few trucks coming from the opposite direction we did not find any trucks in front or behind us. With every truck which came in the opposite direction we started thinking, " this guy would have sent all the wild animals back by honking ", but we were totally wrong. The deer, bison were all unperturbed.

We were lucky to spot lots of deers all along the way. On a whole we saw around 30-50 deers, happily grazing. We also could see 7-8 wild bison which were grazing at a very close distance to the road. Then there was a herd of wild elephants just about 1ft from the road. This was a very great encounter, it was just an awesome experience altogether. Watching these animals in circus or zoo is totally different. Finally after 1.5 hrs of driving slowly we were through the forest area.

Books I read

As I earlier mentioned I was looking out for a book by Robin Sharma " Who will cry when you die ?". I did find the book and purchased it. I even read 30-40% of the book, but I did not find this book as interesting as " The Greatness Guide ". I felt a little bit disappointed. Either my reading skills have gone down or may be I did, really, not like the book. I don't know. Now I am feeling I should have read the " The Greatness Guide" for the 7th time in a row instead of buying this book.
Never mind.

I will try to concentrate a bit more, for the remainder of the book and see if I find it good.

Apart from this, I can say there s a half price sale @ Benetton Outlet @ Kathriguppe. Let me see if I can rope in 2-3 half sleeved shirts tomorrow. :)-

To blog or not to blog

Well over an year ago, I was wondering whether to blog or not to blog. But I have carried my love for writing, for over an year now and hopefully would like to carry for many more years to come.

Here s an interesting comment posted by one of my buddies almost over an year ago, which makes a lot of meaning. I was just going back in time, to see what I actually had written over an year ago. I found this, hence posting a snap of this over here. I hope its crisp and full of meaning.

[ I am absolutely lying about why I went back in time to read my old posts. In other words I have found some new audiences of this blog and I wanted to absolutely make sure my employment is not under threat because of this blogging. Hence went back to re-check and re-edit any stuff which I have mistakenly written. To be honest, I dint edit even a single old post. So you can be rest assured, I ve not committed any offence !!!!]

Pls check out posts in the month of July 2007 to find out the context of this comment.

Happy Independence Day

Here s wishing all the people , a very
Happy I N D E P E N D E N C E D A Y .

3 day weekend !!! Time to celebrate!!!

Well....looks like after a loooong time I am getting to see a 3 day weekend. Its independence day. Proud to be an Indian....

Its a 3 day weekend and I have 3+ reasons to celebrate. Yes, its true. Here are those:

1. Independence Day. ( Proud to be an Indian and here s a salute going out to all the people who have made me realize I am independent )

2. Gym is closed on August 15, in the evening. So my lazy bones, can remain lazy for the whole day.

3. Since Gym is closed in the evening, I get to see the Great Indian Laughter Challenge on Star One, without any fuss. Usually I tend to get struck in the gym, unable to get home or settle down by 9pm. So, I hope tomorrow there wont be any hiccups.

4. Tomorrow is an auspicious day, considering that, there is a door frame laying ceremony early @ 8 am. Hopefully I capture some photos of it and also of my (would be) study room.

5. Lots of time to read about technical stuff, check out new books which have arrived on stands, (btw I have only Rs 1000 left). Hopefully I grab a copy of a Robin Sharma book, which I love and also some technical books.

6. Half Price Sale on Big Bazaar it seems, but I prefer National Market instead. (Avenue Road, Sapna Book stall on the way).

7. Hopefully I catch up with my friend on the weekend. (Thinking of having some Bhel puri etc etc).

8. Thinking of the movies which are on the offering this weekend.

9. Do lots of chatting on yahoo msgr and watch tonnes of videos on Youtube.

My Pick of the Week Song :
Band : MatchBox20
Song : Unwell.

Well.. above mentioned are the 3+ reasons to celebrate.

Cheers.

Power Cut @ Gym, reminds me of my childhood days..

As you all know, there s lot of load shedding, happening in Bangalore, these days. Incidentally, when I was running on the treadmill, suddenly to my surprise the treadmill came to a abrupt halt, thanks to the powercut.

My gym does not have backup power, there is one emergency lantern. I could not continue running on the treadmill, but continued with other exercises. This scenario of working out in a poor or little lit area reminded me of my childhood days.

I grew up playing hide and seek. And the best part was I enjoyed hide and seek, the most when there was a powercut. We, a group of 12-14 people would play hide and seek in kind of dark or poor lit surroundings. We were kind of helped by headlights of passing by vehicles.

So as you can see, the situation today reminds of my childhood days.. Yup worth making a note. Some things are really close to my heart which I wont necessarily like to forget....

One of them is the childhood instance mentioned above.

Life s never gonna be the same. No worries of earning. Only playing, studying no tensions, no Form 16 s , no work related meetings. All for yourself. In other words its called A A W A A R A.

Cheers...

Love your JOB

Love your job, not your company,
Because you never know, when the company stops loving you.

I think these were the words of Mr N R Narayan Murthy, not sure though.. Hmm...

I just wanted to write about an incident that happened to me some months back. Not sure whether it relates to the above quote. But never the less, worth a read.. Of Course..

The day was 3 March 2008. It was my last day @ one of my workplaces. I was working out of [***** content supressed*****] Campus. I guess last day @ an office is always crucial.

You need to get relieving letter, experience letter and some info on Full and Final Settlement, and as usual Form 16.

So I was also trying my level best not to mess up things over there, since my joining date in the other company was [***Content Supressed****].

Well.. I was done with most of the necessary things . There was this point of time where in I needed to submit my ID card and access card back to the security. Here was where I messed up and landed myself in an embarrassing situation.

One of my friends who earlier had quit the job, had surrendered his ID card, taken a temporary employee badge and entered the building to say goodbye to others. I thought of following the same way.

Here s where the real story begins.

I left my baggage in office itself.

I surrendered my Id to the security guys and signed in the registry saying I am done with it. I asked for a temporary badge, to my utter display the security said, we have stopped issuing those kinds of badges and you need to get a visitor pass.

Though it was my last day @, I am still the employee the EOD, and I am being paid for that, you see. But naaa, the security guys would not budge. I assume they did not want to give me the Employee Badge.

Btw, How can I be a visitor when I am an employee ? Is there no differentiation between an employee and a visitor. If an employee forgets to bring his Id Card will he be granted Visitor Pass ?

This is #1, I feel it was utterly humiliating and disappointing.

Here starts part 2 of the story.

I said OK.. Let me get a visitor pass at least. I need to get my baggage back and I am out of here. When I entered the room where visitor passes are issued, I found a lady who was issuing passes. As usual, she asked me who are you, I said " Today is my last day @ [***********] and I have surrendered my Id card, I need a visitor pass to get in and bring my baggage out ".

Guess what the madam says, " Why can 't you bring out your baggage and then surrender your card, why did u leave it inside the office campus ? ". This shows your actual worth. Till yesterday, the company was ready to send late night cabs to your house. Within 5 mins of you surrendering the ID, you are not even allowed to enter the campus. You need to face embarrassing questions like " why you left your baggage inside?". And guess what for a visitor pass you need a person whom you are going to visit, right ? I needed a person who could come and say yes, this ex-employee is going to visit me. I called my friend, and everything was done , I joined the other company on [**************] and the rest is history.

But now you can recollect how true is the saying
" Love your job, not your company,
Because you never know, when the company stops loving you. "

( 5 mins after surrendering your Id card, on your last day, you are a visitor to the company).
I dont call it disrespect. Its there, since the security level is so so high. But still its embarassing, you have worked there for 1.5 years and all of a sudden you are in the middle of no where. Phew.

Not such a good day for me !!!

Well today was not such a good day for me.... I am quite upset with my own behavior. It happened so, that, there was a session @ office and I was at my worst behavior. Some of my team members found me laughing, giggling very very much and even my lead observed it. I should not have exhibited such a behavior since one of my closest buddies was handling the session. I wish I could undo some or majority of my behavior. But its too late.. Here s hoping I would not repeat the same in future..
